SUSQUEHANNA & JUNIATA RIVERS: **; 60ish; muddy; jumping to 10.1 by Wednesday on the main stem and to 7.3 on the Juniata at Newport.
I’ve spent my last 25 birthdays and Easters at Riverfront Campground guiding smallmouth anglers and I can’t remember one of them when I wasn’t worried about river flow. My last week there was frustrating because the river was so low and clear–plus post spawn and cold fronts made the “catchin’” tougher. Well, wouldn’t you know it, on a rain soaked short week I traveled home and found that both of those rivers were JUMPING.
It was a very good year though because I’ve never seen fatter bass in my vast history. My issue if I have one is that populations seem to be spotty and anglers are hammering bass in traditional spawning areas.
Of note throughout our season was the excellent results we had on the Case Magic Swim attached to an RAB Swim Jighead by Johnny Cunningham of RAB Jigs. By the way feel free to order all the Case and Zipper product you like by using my personal; discount “KenP20”
We may have broken a record in my “Ken Penrod’s 20-Inch Smallmouth Club catches. I’ll know after Johnny gets me the totals. Jay George has the lead now with his 6-1, 21.25” behemoth. May be joing our guide service
Local angler, Zack Marinkov may be joining our guide service one he obtains proper insurance and his PA Guide License. Zack will specialize in summertime AM and PM outings.
Special thanks to all my clients and friends; folks from Riverfront Campground; Red Carpet Inn; Ranch House Restaurant; Serrontos and American Legion. Hope your depthfinder works for you Scotty. I know all my dogs will miss me—or my doggie treats.

UPPER POTOMAC RIVER: *** to Dangerous; mid 60s; muddy; jumping to 10.3 by Monday at Point of Rocks.
STAY AWAY….

TIDAL POTOMAC RIVER: ***; mid 60s; stained in areas and more stain on the way
It’s been a very good late winter and beginning of spring with some fish already spawn and more to come. Vegetation to the south is a major factor bit the northern sectors are preforming well;.
Tomorrow, May 1, will be my first day this year. I know what I want to do.
I have three days in May avaiable.
